I know it was only a couple of weeks ago i was so anxious about the unknown, but now that we have settled in to our new apartment. Two of the three of us like it just fine. Gracie and I spend our days swimming and checking out the local shopping areas. We even went to the children's reading at Barnes and Noble next door. I love the fact that i can go to walmart and be back at the apartment within the hour, everything we need is so close and the people i have encountered, so far are wonderful. Travis on the other hand does not seem to be adapting quite as well. For a good old country boy, this move to the city is killing him. I know he misses his nightly fishing trips, and just plain and simple things like dirt roads and pastures. Plus he is trying to get use to the way this shop is run, from the way he talks, he might has well of started from scratch, with routines and protocol.
We haven't visited a church yet, because we haven't been up here for sunday service yet, last week we went back to conroe for mom's birthday, this week we are going because i'm going to an event for my cousin before she is wed at the end of the month, and we are bumping up dad's father's day to this sunday, so gracie and i can spend the actual father's day with travis at home. Hopefully then we will visit a church. There is one that a friend of mine mentioned that is first on my list to try out because of the children's ministry. But i'll let you know my final opinion after we have visited.
Something that is really taking use to up here is the natural disasters...if you want to call them that. Cleburne (40min south) is having earthquakes almost on a daily basis, which is weird to me. and the thunderstorms are horrible!! yesterday we had our first tornado warning, and i will tell you that when that siren goes off, my heart stopped. Nothing came our way, but it was still a pretty scary 15 minutes. Oddly enough Gracie could care less about the thunder and lightening, during the storm was the only time yesterday that she went to her room to play by herself....weird.
